New Belt-Driven Counter-Rotator |
|
Shown above is our 15' x 7.5' Counter-Rotator with a new camo paint scheme and a custom-built 670hp big-block engine built by Mark Boos of Precision Marine.

Airboat Drive Units’ new belt-drive Counter Rotator allows a substantial increase in thrust while nearly eliminating the boat's torque as well as greatly reducing noise. By rotating the front prop in the opposite direction of the back prop and at a slightly slower speed, the blades of the front prop can be much larger and pitched much heavier, pushing a larger amount of air at a lower RPM. The back prop turns with the engine and counteracts the torque and noise of the front prop while adding to the overall thrust. If you would like more information on our applications of the counter-rotator, call (337) 828-0404 or email mark@marksairboats.com. |

Hello, I'm Mark Robicheaux. I'd like to say a few words about the history of Mark's Airboats, Inc. and myself. My first memories of being around airboats go back as far as my diaper days. As a very young child, I would watch my father, Ray Robicheaux, build these old wooden-hull airboats. Then as I got old enough to keep rubber boots from falling off of my feet, my father started taking me duck hunting with him. Our means of transportation for deer and duck hunting was by way of airboats. Through the years, being in and out of airboats became a way of life for me. Eventually my father turned airboating, his love and hobby, into a business. I started working for my father at Robicheaux Airboats part-time while I was in high school. After graduating, I worked for him full time for nine years. I both built airboats and helped with the airboat rental company he had created. As time moved on, it was time for me to move on. In September 1986, I left Robicheaux Airboats. Leaving this family business was probably one of the hardest things that I have ever done. I then started my own business doing mostly repairs of any sort. My business grew into building a few boats now and then. I worked out of my backyard for the first three years. As business continued to grow, I bought a small shop in town. Each year business progressed. With every boat we built, we were able to show people, more and more, the talent, ability, and quality that lies within Mark’s Airboats. In December 1996, I purchased two acres of land and in January 1997 we broke ground for a new, larger facility. In June 1997, it was completed and we moved in. We are now in an 8,400 square foot facility on two acres of land that is completely fenced in. The layout that we now have puts us in a position to handle any of your airboat needs, whether it be new construction, repairs, polymer changing, or parts. Therefore, my knowledge of airboats and the reputation that I’ve achieved has been no accident. It is the accumulation of years and experience, satisfied customers, the ability to change with the times, the willingness to listen to my customer’s needs, the luxury of having my father Ray Robicheaux as a mentor, a qualified staff and the support of my wife and four children that has made Mark’s Airboats, Inc. a success.
